It's one of the biggest public universities in Texas, only behind Texas A&M in College Station, the University of Houston in the city of Houston, and the main UT campus in the city of Austin.
River Legacy Parks is a beautiful 1,300-acre green space in the north of the city and features riverside walking trails, a living science center, playgrounds, picnic areas, and much more. The parks in Arlington also include several dog parks.
Arlington has multiple golf courses, including the Lake Arlington golf course, Shady Valley Country Club, Meadowbrook Park Golf Course, Rolling Hills Golf Club, and the Texas Rangers Golf Club, among others.

Arlington Independent School District covers Arlington and much of the Tarrant County portion of the neighboring city of Grand Prairie. It comprises over 70 schools, including 50+ elementary schools, 10 middle schools, half a dozen high schools, and multiple alternative and specialty schools.
Arlington students have about two dozen private schools available, some of the most popular of which include Grace Preparatory Academy, The Oakridge School, and St. Maria Goretti Catholic School. About 58% of Arlington private schools are religiously affiliated, and the schools available cover all grade levels.
College and university students in Arlington often attend UTA, but there are several other options nearby as well. Within about 20 miles, Arlington students have access to both private and public colleges such as the University of Dallas in the city of Irving, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and Tarrant County College, among others.
