The Woodlands, on the other hand, is a master-planned development established in 1974, with a population approaching 125,000. The Woodlands is positioned primarily in Montgomery County, with the Village of Creekside Park its only Harris County neighborhood. Originally intended as a bedroom community for Houston, a significant number of major employers have ultimately moved here, particularly in the Town Center area.

Prices here are typically from the $300s to the $800s and up.

The Woodlands comprises several individual villages, each with distinct residential sections. Popular neighborhoods and gated communities in The Woodlands include Carlton Woods in the Village of Sterling Ridge and Carlton Woods Creekside in the Village of Creekside Park. Residents living south of Spring along the FM 1960 area are zoned to the Aldine Independent School District, and addresses west of Spring near Grand Parkway and FM 2920 fall within the Klein ISD.
