The Houston Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the United States. It features more than 6,000 animals from around the world. The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is one of the largest art museums in the country. It has more than 66,000 works in its collection, including paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, and photographs. If the Museum of Fine Arts isn't enough for art enthusiasts, the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens is another one of America's largest collections of decorative art objects. The collection consists of over 16,000 works from American and English decorative arts dating from 1620 to 1860. 

Houston has a number of transportation systems that make it easier for residents and visitors to get around, of which the METRO Light Rail and METRO Bus are the most popular. The METRO Light Rail is a 23.4-mile light rail system that features 45 stops along five different lines, making it easy for residents to take public transportation throughout the city.  METRO offers over 1,000 bus routes with nearly 2,000 buses in its fleet. The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Houston is home to two airports: George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport. Located 35 miles north of downtown Houston, Bush Intercontinental Airport offers nonstop service to over 100 destinations worldwide through 50 different airlines.

Houston School Information

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) is the seventh-largest school district in the United States, serving over 215,000 students. The district has over 280 schools, including traditional public schools, magnet schools, and charter schools. Some of the schools in HISD include Carnegie Vanguard High School, DeBakey High School for Health Professions, and Lamar High School. 

Houston also has a number of charter schools students may also attend. Some of the city's charter schools include the Mastery School, KIPP: Houston, YES Prep Public Schools, Harmony Public Schools, High Tech High School, and Houston ISD Academy for Choice. Houston has several private schools, including The Kinkaid School, St. John's School, Episcopal High School, and St. Thomas' Episcopal School.

Houston is the home of several colleges and universities, including Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Southern University, South Texas College of Law Houston, and the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD).
