The Amira Lifestyle

Walking through this 549-acre Tomball master-planned community, it’s evident that Amira has a history closely tied to equestrian culture. Preakness Pond, Pony Park, and the off-leash Derby Dog Park all pay homage to the neighborhood’s past. Where Amira now sits was once the elite DeShazer Ranch, specifically for Egyptian Arab horses. After DeShazer, the property also served as an upscale event venue.

Today, Amira incorporates several aspects of its storied past into residents’ day-to-day lives, including resort-style amenities, an exceptionally pet-friendly lifestyle, and a beautiful, modern community center, The Resort at Amira. The neighborhood, which is located on Mueschke Road between SH 99 and FM 2920, features several open green spaces, walking paths, five lakes and ponds, and other communal outdoor spaces.

Amira was built in 2019, and new construction homes continue to be built. The community’s modernity is evident in every aspect, from the impeccably maintained grounds to the top-tier amenities.

Types of Homes in Amira

All the homes for sale in Amira are single-family dwellings built by either Perry Homes or Beazer Homes. Residents can choose from seven home models across both builders, with styles ranging from French Mediterranean to Tuscan and traditional brick cottages, plus some townhomes. Houses range in size from about 1,700 to 3,700 square feet, and the average is 2,530 with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

With such variation in style and size, Amira home prices also vary significantly. $315,000 typically gets you a 1,740 square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath home, while a two-story home with five bedrooms, an additional office, four bathrooms, and over 3,600 square feet usually costs around $550,000. The median market value is typically in  the high $300s.

Amira Amenities

Impressive community amenities are one of the mainstays that draw people to Amira.

The Resort at Amira, the neighborhood’s 7,000-square-foot clubhouse, is at the center of these amenities. It has a state-of-the-art gym with yoga studio, full kitchen, children’s reading nook, a central courtyard with numerous covered patios around its perimeter, each with lake views and a large-screen TV, and separate resort-style pools for children and adults.

Just outside The Resort, there’s also the Event Lawn. This beautifully landscaped, well-lit space hosts year-round community events, and is conveniently right next to the neighborhood’s main playground.

Amira has other outdoor spaces, too, including Pony Park and the off-leash Derby Dog Park. Pony Park is a nature-focused, well-shaded playground with a large pony-shaped climbing structure, slides, and plenty of room to run and jump. In addition, there are five sparkling lakes and several connected walking and biking paths throughout the community.

Neighborhood Services

In addition to amenities for fun, Amira residents have daily and essential services close at hand. Within a few minutes, there are multiple schools from elementary through college, grocery stores, gyms, day care facilities, banks, and the Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital. Being so close to the Grand Parkway (State Highway 99), there are also several options for commuting, including using park and ride lots and taking public transportation.

Sterling ASI manages Amira’s homeowners’ association, and has an office inside The Resort. The HOA is very hands-on, not only maintaining community grounds, but also hosting events throughout the year.

Neighborhood Shopping

From Amira homes, great shopping is just a short drive away. H-E-B and Kroger grocery stores, as well as Costco, are just 10 minutes from the neighborhood, while specialty Whole Foods is 15–20 minutes away.

Beyond those, almost every other type of store you can imagine is within a 10–15 minute drive. This includes Wal-Mart, Target, Academy Sports, home improvement stores, and the Houston Premium Outlets. Right next to Costco, there’s also a small shopping center with niche stores including a golf shop, mattress store, and a few others.

Things to Do in Amira

Without ever leaving the neighborhood, Amira offers residents tons of things to do. Specifically, there’s an abundance of outdoor activities, from swimming to playing in the community parks and walking or biking its trails. The Resort at Amira clubhouse also provides endless entertainment, with a gym, spaces designated for reading and gaming, and several lounge areas, both indoors and out.

Just outside of Amira, residents have several dozen dining and entertainment options, all catering to a wide variety of ages and interests.

Outdoor Activities

With five named lakes, several open green spaces, a large park, an off-leash dog park, more than one pool, and multi-use trails throughout, Amira provides plenty of ways for residents to be active outside. In the heart of the neighborhood, adjacent to Reinwood Lake, Pony Park is a highlight. This play space honors Amira’s equestrian heritage with a large horse-shaped climbing structure, strewn-about “hay,” and a tack barn.

Just up the road, within easy walking or biking distance, is the Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, one of the best parks in Tomball. The popular preserve is located on a historic family farm, and has walking trails and campsites, plus offers a variety of nature programs.

Restaurants, Breweries & Bars

Living in Amira means residents have many ways to stay fueled up. One popular restaurant is just on the other side of Kleb Woods, 2920 Roadhouse. The unique property is historically significant, and has indoor and outdoor spaces where you’ll often catch live music or car shows. Right down the road, The Barn is another beloved casual, outdoor space serving pub fare and hosting live events.

A few minutes further afield, there are several fast-casual restaurants in the Houston Premium Outlets. The shopping centers housing Kroger and Costco also each have a few restaurants.
