Waxahachie residents have access to several major highways, including I-35E, U.S. Route 287, and Ferris Avenue, which splits off from I-35E to run through all of Waxahachie's major commercial areas (before merging back with the interstate). This allows residents convenient commutes to both the city of Dallas and the city of Fort Worth.

  • The Scarborough Renaissance Festival, also known as Scarborough Faire, has been held in Waxahachie since 1981 and welcomes guests each weekend from April to Memorial Day.
  • Waxahachie is the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas. Each summer, historic downtown comes alive with hundreds of these beautiful red and purple flowering trees in bloom.
  • Waxahachie is known for having many elaborate Victorian-style historical buildings, celebrated annually with Gingerbread Trail Festival tours.
  • Ever watched The Munsters? The home in this 60s sitcom has been lovingly and painstakingly replicated from show footage at the Munster Mansion. Public tours are offered once a year.

Waxahachie is served by the Waxahachie Independent School District. The district has 10 elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools, and one alternative school. Most Waxahachie high school students attend Waxahachie High School or Waxahachie Global High School, an Early College and Texas-STEM school.

There are also several private schools located in Waxahachie, including the Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
